Exact Match Search

At Strise, we use an exact match search for our sanctions tool. This means that we require an exact match on either the name or an alias for it to be a match in Strise. However, we also search for any combination of the name, so if John Doe is sanctioned and "Doe John" shows up in a sanctions list, we will still match it.

In addition, we clean up apostrophes and other characters to ensure that our search results are accurate and reliable. We search for sanction hits in a variety of lists, including:

  1. United Nations Sanctions Lists - These lists are maintained by the United Nations and include individuals, organizations, and countries that are subject to sanctions.

  2. U.S. Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) Sanctions List and OFAC SDN - This list is maintained by the U.S. Department of the Treasury and includes individuals, organizations, and countries that are subject to U.S. sanctions.

  3. European Union Sanctions Lists - These lists are maintained by the European Union and include individuals, organizations, and countries that are subject to EU sanctions.

  4. UK Sanctions Lists - These lists are maintained by the UK government and include individuals, organizations, and countries that are subject to UK sanctions.
