A PEP is a politically exposed person who is, or has been, entrusted with a prominent public function.

PEPs are considered potentially risky in KYC and AML cases and require additional checks. Foreign PEPs are always regarded as high risk. Relatives and close associates (RCA) of politically exposed people can also increase risk.

Strise checks for PEPs and RCAs against Trapets in the Nordics and Dow Jones internationally. The request can be made in both the Review tab and in the side panel that pops up. You'll get the details on the name the result is associated with, and the role that makes the person a PEP. When available, you'll also get the person's address and date of birth.

This information is enough to determine whether the person you are looking at is a PEP or not.
